Regent were thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate the successes and achievements of businesses in the local community through our involvement with this year’s Croydon Business Excellence Awards.
We sponsored the Night Time Economy Award – a category honouring the best in evening entertainment, whether it be pubs, restaurants, clubs or theatre. As we all know that Croydon is a great place for a night out, it was a hotly contested category, and we were given the privilege of being involved in choosing a winner. As part of the judging process we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet with all of the nominees, who all brought unique offerings to the table.
It was a difficult decision to make, but in the end Mr Fox, Croydon’s new cocktail pub and restaurant, came out on top. ‘We were particularly impressed with the way that the owners have restored the building, stripping it back to its beautiful bare basics and using upcycled materials in the décor,’ said Regent’s Grace Roarty, ‘all of the staff are paid a London Living Wage and there are no zero-hour contracts. We felt that what Mr Fox has been able to achieve in such a short space of time, and their plans for the future, made them deserving of the accolade.’
Grace presented the award to the worthy winners at the Croydon Business Excellence Awards ceremony and gala dinner event on Thursday 3rd October at The Grand Sapphire Hotel in Croydon. The evening was one to remember, with a sparkling reception and three-course dinner followed by a Charity Ball with a fun photo booth and dancing to live music. One of our personal highlights was when two of our guests at the event – Tom from Acorn Estate Agents and Penny from Fuse Architects – made it to the final two contestants in a quiz which involved over 450 attendees! Tom was crowned the final winner and was rewarded with a night’s stay at luxury Victorian country house hotel, the De Vere Selsdon Estate!
We were pleased to play a part in celebrating the diverse variety of businesses in Croydon and the people who help to make them a success. Roll on the 2020 awards!
